⁷ Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

²⁰ For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are, Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, laciviousness, ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hared, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, ²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

¹ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

⁹ Whosoever is born of God doth not commit Sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of God is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, ¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and its lust: but he that doeth the will of God, abideth for ever.

³ And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. ⁴ He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, the truth is not in him. ⁵ But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. ⁶ He that saith he abideth in him, ought himself also to walk, even as he walked.

¹³ There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not leave you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there is not another sacrifice left still to be offered. ²⁷ But a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

¹⁵ For that which I do, I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate I do. ¹⁶ If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law, that [it is] good. ¹⁷ Now then, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. ¹⁸ For I know, that in me, that is, in my flesh dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to perform that which is good, I find not. ¹⁹ For the good that I would, I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. ²⁰ Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. ²¹ I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. ²² For I delight in the law of God, after the inward man. ²³ But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity in the law of sin, which is in my members. ²⁴ O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death? ²⁵ The grace of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, with the mind I my self serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

⁶ Whosoever abideth in him, sinneth not: whosoever sinneth, hath not seen him, neither known him. ⁷ Little children let not any one deceive you: He that doth righteousness, is righteous, even as he is righteous: ⁸ But he that committeth sin, is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. ⁹ Whosoever is born of God doth not commit Sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. ¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: Whosoever doeth not righteousness, is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
